The Masters section at West Beach SLSC is available to anyone who is over 30, has their bronze, is proficient and has the mandatory patrol 16 hours per calendar year necessary you can also compete.  Many retired surf life saving competitors come back to competition when their own children become involved.

There is a range of events available including flags, sprints, 1 and 2 km runs and beach relays.  In the water there are surf swims, board, ski , ironman events plus various team events in all water disciplines plus taplin relays and surf boat races.The Masters State Carnival this year will  be held at West Beach SLSC on the Saturday the 4th and 5th of March 2017.

The Masters State Carnival's is held solely for masters competitors - this includes boats, water and beach events and is a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.  For the very competitive individuals there are state and national titles to take on and West Beach has won several Australian medals.  Our current Masters champion is Joanne Sutcliffe.

Masters compete in 5 year age groups starting with the 30-34 age group and going up to 70 +
