Do you want to complete your Duke of Edinburgh Award at West Beach? What is it?

An international award which recognises skill development, volunteering services, involvement in sporting activities and participation in an adventurous journey.

You all do many of these activities through Surf Life Saving and the other clubs in which you are involved. The Duke of Edinburgh is a formal recognition of these things you do.

14 to 25 years (min.ages apply for silver & gold awards)

$155 for each award

Award Recognition

The award is recognised by SACE with up to 30 points to the SACE score awarded for Gold and Silver achievers and is also highly regarded by recruiting firms.

What do I need to do?

You will complete a record book of hours spent in the following activities. These hours an attainment of skills and proficiencies will be signed off by assessors.

  1. Sport or recreation: Required to participate from a 3 to 12 month period in a sport of your choice such as running, netball, and surfing.
  2. Skill or interest: This could include obtaining your bronze medal, radio licence, studying music or extra studies.
  3. Community volunteering: Patrolling at West beach or helping out at a nursing home.
  4. Adventurous expedition: This requires the participant to organise and plan a trip such as hiking in the Grampians, Kayaking in the Coorong or 4 wheel driving across the Simpson desert.
